Hi Alison

When you first start a garden soil preparation is important. As organic as possible. Build up with horse poo: mulch with sugar cane, you can pick this up cheaply on the road to Jacobs Well. 

Tomatoes are always good. You can try lettuce, silver beet, snow peas, also egg plant and zucchini. All very easy to grow at this time of the year. Herbs too, and remember to have fun.
