So, you can peel your green/yellowing loofahs straight away or let them dry out more, I like to dry them out completely before peeling as it makes it much easier to do. The skin just falls away.
The benefit of peeling the fruit before it's completely dry is that the sponge stays light in colour (less discolouration).
While drying naturally the fruit can get rotted spots or stung by insects or just be darker in general.…

Hi Everyone
I wanted to share one of my lastest gardening adventures which is to grow loofah sponges.
They are the fruit from a tropical vine from the cucumber family.
As they are super hardy in our hot summer sun I decided to grow them on a trellis of my main veggie bed to shade and cool some other things that wouldn't have coped otherwise...…

As Matty was busy working on (playing with) his car yesterday, I took the opportunity to get stuck into the garden and, in particular the compost bin.

Darn Sundays are the worst day for me Robyn needs the car for work. I might work something out. I have been given a still, and made some lemon hydrosol from lemongrass.
This would go quite well in a soap. :)
G'day Trinette, can you "friend me" :)
My pumpkin has very few male flowers on it at the moment too. I seem to remember reading something about the temperature affecting the amount of male to female flowers produced.
Are you sure it was this Gabrielle you needed? Happy to be friends, but I know nothing about management meetings???
Hi Trinette,
Thank you for the friend request. I enjoyed myself as well at the Crop/Swap and also
meeting your mum as well. Yes those carrots were special. grown by a younger grower
who is enthusiastic. Really good to see.
Happy gardening, See you at future events.
Hi Trinette
