We are very lucky to have George Allen, past president of the Subtropical Fruit Club joining us for the afternoon. He will be conducting a fruit tree workshop at Karen & Stephens permaculture garden.Karen and Stephen live on a 1 and 1/4 acre block in Jimboomba. Despite an abundance of fruit trees, they are not enjoying an abundance of fruit and they would like to understand why. They are growing (or not growing!!) Lemons, Limes, Oranges, Mandarins, FingerLimes, Grapes, Passionfruit, Dragon…See More
We rent so have limited ability to grow much other than in pots. We're allowed to put some plants in a small area of the backyard but without a fence around it (which comes with its own issues) the dog runs over the top of it when she 'defends' the yard from the children next door (happily, but noisily, playing in their own yard).
Skills and/or knowledge I would like to share
We intend to build on a hillside lot we own in Logan Village sometime before we die (still waiting on the Building Approval etc.) When that is done, we'll be looking to plant local native food plants, particularly in the area outside the building envelope.
