Event Description

Fancy a nice cool day at a turmeric farm in Springbrook? We are going for a trip up the mountain into the rainforest!

 

If you would like to carpool meet at the Logan Hyperdome outside of Westpac/ BOQ/ ANZ at 9am. On a Sunday morning there should be few people in the parking area. We will be leaving at 9am sharp so please arrive early.  If you don't want to carpool we will meet you at Springbrrook at about 10am.

 

IMPORTANT!!-make sure you go up the Nerang way to Springbrook (the Mudgeeraba way is closed)

 

We will tour the farm and listen to a presentation on Turmeric.  the talk is called We love turmeric and sharing knowledge about this lovely plant and will cover the following:

 

how to grow turmeric

why “not all turmerics are equal” and why there is so so much confusion

using your food as medicine

the clinical and research evidence for using turmeric in your everyday life

understanding and sharing your experiences using turmeric

Bernie and Gina love sharing knowledge and stories about growing food

 

Join us on the farm, surrounded by world heritage listed rainforest

Bring along:

a plate of food to share fro afternoon tea/ lunch

a jumper because it is apparently MUCH cooler up there.

If you are interested we might even go on the 5 minute walk to purlingbrook falls.

  1. Take the Nerang-Murwillumbah Rd (Exit 69 from M1) only!!!!. The other way from Mudgeeraba is closed (Exit 79 from M1).
  2. There is no petrol available on Springbrook Mountain. Plan for the round trip from Nerang
  3. We;re easy to find. Your GPS will take you to 39 Gwongorella Parade Springbrook. Look for a red letterbox with 39. Drive up the driveway. No problem parking/turning
  4. While you are here, maybe a snack at one of our cafes?

  5. You'll want to take a walk (bring a jumper, might be cool)

  6. Purlingbrook Falls
    5 minute stroll from us. Might do it as a group if time
  7. Best of All Lookout
    300m walk to cliff face overlooking Mt Warning, Byron Bay 
    and Northern NSW

Best rain forest walk in SEQ? 4km, about 90 minutes. 
bring swimmers

  1. If you are still here a dusk, catch the glow worms at 
    Natural Bridge on your way home

Sounds like a great event! Happy to finally be able to attend one of the amazing LFG events ;-) Just wondering, I've got my family from Germany here with us atm, would they be able to come along as well (seven people all up)? Thanks and kind regards, Jana
