Two lucky families who attended the Logan Eco Action Festival in June, won prizes in the Logan Food Gardeners' raffle which included a one-hour working bee to be delivered by LFG members for each family.
Our first prize winner, Carol, also won a one-hour consultation with an LFG garden mentor. Colin Westwood advised Carol that a large native tree needed to be removed before her working bee should proceed. Carol's working bee will occur later in the year.
Our second prize winners Maree and her husband are ready for us to undertake their working bee now. Their garden is an established one with a large ornamental rainforest area. The garden also boats an established orchard and a number of vegetable and herb growing beds. There is a large stone fruit tree which needs careful pruning, two mango trees to be thinned and vegetable and herb beds which need weeding, as well as general garden cleaning. Maree also expressed an interest in initiating a garden on their verge.
Maree and her husband have nominated four possible dates and times for their working bee:
10am Saturday 20 July
2pm Sunday 21 July
10am Saturday 27 July
2pm Sunday 28 July.
Please RSVP if you can assist at any of these times and use the comments section to nominate the time/s when you would prefer to attend.
Please nominate the work you could complete confidently and list the tools you can supply to complete that work.
On the chosen day, please bring the clean tools you will need, your own protective gardening gear and some morning or afternoon tea to share at the end of the working bee.
In 2013, LFG members have already undertaken one very successful working bee. Let's make our second one as effective and as much fun! See you there!
