We are very lucky to have George Allen, past president of the Subtropical Fruit Club joining us for the afternoon. He will be conducting a fruit tree workshop at Karen & Stephens permaculture garden.
Karen and Stephen live on a 1 and 1/4 acre block in Jimboomba. Despite an abundance of fruit trees, they are not enjoying an abundance of fruit and they would like to understand why. They are growing (or not growing!!) Lemons, Limes, Oranges, Mandarins, FingerLimes, Grapes, Passionfruit, Dragon Fruit, Pomegranate, Davidson Plum, Red Plum, Olives.....well one olive in 10 years in fact and some indigenous fruit trees.
The workshop with George will focus on how to get the best from your fruit trees, pruning methods, solving and recognising pests and diseases in fruit trees, how to build up soil nutrients and anything else fruit tree related that you'd like to ask him! Karen and Stephen follow permaculture practices in their garden. If you have any old newspapers, they would appreciate them for some no dig gardens they have planned. They will be lighting the BBQ & stewing up a brew from their freshly picked lemon mrytle & lemongrass to share with us all.
Please bring along: - things to share: excess produce, seeds, seedlings, plant material - a plate of food to share for afternoon tea - a hat if it's fine - a small folding chair - a mug and plate (no disposables) Charge for this event is $5 per adult to cover the cost of our speaker. Kids under supervision and partners are welcome. Please RSVP to this event to let us know how many of you are coming.
Also we are looking for Rego person for the sign in table- can you help?
