Event Description

Preserving and fermenting our own food has so many benefits such as:

  • using surplus produce from our gardens,
  • being able to preserve food that is in-season (and cheap) for eating out of season
  • home made preserves don't contain all the nasty additives and dubious ingredients of purchased goods
  • fermented foods are great for your health 
  • save money by doing it yourself
  • home made preserves often taste better and may be nutritionally better too
  • Local, ethical and sustainable :) and 
  • you can share them with your friends 

If you like to learn how to preserve some of your harvest or in-season fruit and veg, come along to our food preserving and fermenting workshop on Sunday 18 Feb from 9-12noon.

We currently have 3 main presenters who will present on different topics.  The main topics are:

  • Sauerkraut - Teresa
  • Jam - Liz
  • Kombucha - Klaudia

This is a hands-on workshop where you will get to make some preserves to take home and taste all sorts of other goodies.  There will also be discussion around other preserves and preserving techniques e.g. apple cider vinegar and kefir. 

Strictly no children and please wear closed in shoes.

Morning tea provided

If you have knowledge or preserves you would like to share, please feel free to share on the day.

Cost: $15 per person.  Maximum 25 people.  To ensure your place please book and pay through Eventbrite.

  • Empty clean jars of various sizes with metal lids
