Hear Ye! Hear Ye!
Join the fun at the LFG Christmas Party!
LFG members Joanne Young and Chris Downes are hosting this year’s December Christmas Luncheon on Saturday December 6th at their newly purchased Logan Reserve property, named ‘Tumbling Downs”.
The property is an ex turf farm, approximately 7 acres, with a northern aspect sloping down toward the Logan River.
Joanne’s dream is to develop this barren land into a sustainable and functional home and gardens, incorporating her animals, using permaculture principles. It also will become a butterfly haven, with Jo’s passion to develop an area on the property which supports the butterfly life cycle.
There will be a tour of the property on the day, and Jo and Chris welcome ideas contributed by visitors. There will be some butcher’s paper and pens available for guests to write down or draw their ideas. Jo says “no idea is too silly”. All ideas will be graciously accepted.
Also, Jo and Chris have started two compost piles on the property, so if you have any material you can contribute, please bring it along and add it to the pile.
Please bring a yummy plate of food to share at our Luncheon. Homemade foods including those made with home-grown or unusual plants if you can!
Your food contribution will earn you a bonus raffle ticket ( see below).
Time: 11am – 3pm Saturday 6th December. Lunch at 12pm please.
Venue: This is an outdoor, undercover event, using an existing open shed on the property plus gazebos.
What to bring: Please bring a chair / picnic blanket, plate, cutlery and cup for yourself and guests.
There will be iced tea and ice cold water provided, as well as hot tea and coffee. Shade will be provided and we are hoping for a nice afternoon breeze off the river.
Activities: We are organising a raffle, as well as some fun games like watermelon pip spitting competition and no hands lamington eating! … as well as some other games for the young and young at heart.
We will have a shaded kids area set up, so bring along your children’s favourite colouring books or suitable games to play.
At this event, we will run a raffle table instead of the usual giveaway table.
We started this tradition in 2013. Then, there were so many prizes everyone was able to take away a Christmas present and it was fun!
Please be generous and bring an item of value (which you would like to receive) to place on the raffle table. Each item you bring will earn you a raffle ticket. Suitable items could be unusual plants, cook books, tools, seedlings, garden magazines, safety gear, plant pots, bamboo stakes, hay bales etc etc …
Additional raffle tickets can be purchased at $1/ticket or $2 for 3 tickets. The raffle will be drawn after lunch.
There’s plenty of parking on site. Please follow the signs and keep to the marked out areas.
Some parts of the neighbouring fence are electrified and care must be taken in this area.
Carpooling is encouraged. Please post details in comments if you are looking for, or if you can offer, a lift.
Your contribution of between $3 and $5 per person helps Logan Food Gardeners Inc to cover its costs and removes the need for an annual membership fee.
Partners and kids are very welcome. Kids must be supervised due to the open water around the property.
Please RSVP to let us know you are coming, as we are working hard to plan a great day for all :-)
See you there.
