David and Catherine live on a beautiful 2.5 acres in Sheldon. Their land is mostly compacted clay, so they have had to find alternative methods to grow their veggies. They have used techniques such as hugelkultur, raised wicking beds and layered beds.
They tend to stick to fairly basic vegetables that either they or their chooks will enjoy eating.
Catherine has a collection of unusual fruit trees in pots, ready to move up on top of a mountain when they retire!
Sorry, no dogs allowed. Our chooks and goose completely free range on our property.
Plenty of parking available. Please walk through the gate but close it to keep our dogs from getting out.
Please bring along a plate of food to share. There will also be a secret santa/raffle table. This has become a bit of a Christmas tradition. Everyone who brings along a gift to contribute to this table will go home with something new for themselves. Please don't wrap the gifts, as people choose from the table what they want. In previous years people have brought along unusual plants, cookbooks, tools, really anything you think a fellow gardener may be interested in.
Please bring along:
- a hat if it's fine
- a small folding chair
- a mug and plate
There will be a contribution box at the event and your contribution of between $3 and $5 per person will help Logan Food Gardeners' Inc. to cover its costs.
Kids under supervision (there is an unfenced dam on the property) and partners are welcome.
Please RSVP to this event to let us know how many of you are coming.
