David and Catherine live on a beautiful 2.5 acres in Sheldon. Their land is mostly compacted clay, so they have had to find alternative methods to grow their veggies. They have used techniques such as hugelkultur, raised wicking beds and layered beds. They are growing lots of different types of veggies.....sprouts, broccoli, pumpkins, strawberries, cabbage, tomatoes, peanuts, yams, garlic, melons, gourd and more.
David will give a talk (with video presentation) about exactly he set up the hugelkultur beds.
Catherine has a collection of unusual fruit trees and edible plants.
Sorry, no dogs allowed. Our ducks and chooks completely free range on our property.
Plenty of parking available on the driveway or on the street.
Please bring along:
- things to share: excess produce, seeds, seedlings, plant material
- a plate of food to share for morning tea
- a hat
- a small folding chair
- a mug and plate
There will be a contribution box at the event and your contribution of between $3 and $5 per person will help Logan Food Gardeners' Inc. to cover its costs.
Kids under supervision (there is an unfenced dam on the property) and partners are welcome.
Please RSVP to this event to let us know how many of you are coming.
